Sentient surpasses five-year target with 300% offset

April 24, 2025

Jet card pioneer Sentient Jet has offset over 1.6 million metric tons of CO₂ through international renewables and forest protection efforts.

Sentient Jet has reached a new sustainability milestone, offsetting over 1.6 million metric tons of carbon since launching its sustainability initiative in 2021. The company, which originated the jet card category, claims an offset rate of 300% for every flight, covering all aviation-related emissions including water vapour, aerosols and nitrous oxide through its partner 4Air.

The total offset to date is equivalent to the emissions from more than 1.7 billion pounds of coal burned or the carbon stored in an area of forest larger than the state of Delaware. Sentient’s contributions have funded wind and renewable energy projects across the United States, Asia, South America, Turkey and India, as well as forest protection in the Democratic Republic of Congo and the northeastern United States.

Further developments include an interactive emissions calculator designed to help card holders track their environmental impact. President Alan Walsh of Sentient Jet says: “Private aviation has a responsibility to evolve and we'll continue to invest in solutions that make private aviation forward-looking.”

He adds: “Sentient Jet has built its reputation on innovation and finding new ways to make private aviation smarter, more seamless and more responsible. We were one of the first to recognise that sustainability needed to be part of that equation.”

The company has also supported social programmes tied to deforestation mitigation and deployed over 400,000 fuel-efficient cookstoves to Ghanaian homes. Sentient says its efforts come at no extra cost to customers and remain part of its long-term environmental commitment.
