Simply Jet's purchase of Austrian operator FlyTyrol gives the Lausanne-headquartered group an Austro Control AOC and a target of 10 managed aircraft by 2030, up from four today.
Simply Jet has acquired 100 per cent of FlyTyrol (formerly ABC Bedarfsflug), a business aviation operator based in Innsbruck, Austria. Completed in early September, this transaction makes Simply Jet one of the few business aviation brokers in Europe to hold, within its group, an AOC issued by the Austrian authority Austro Control.
ABC Bedarfsflug was incorporated on 5 December 2001 and has traded as FlyTyrol since at least 2003, when its commercial air transport authorisation was registered with the Magistrat der Stadt Innsbruck.
FlyTyrol employs 14 people. Its fleet consists of four aircraft based in Innsbruck and Salzburg, Austria. A Cessna Citation M2 and a Cessna Citation CJ3+ are available for charter, while a Cessna Citation CJ2+ and a Cessna Citation XLS are privately managed and used exclusively by their owners. FlyTyrol will retain its name and its entire staff.
The two companies say they share common values: excellence, a sense of hospitality, and a human-centred approach. This new chapter will benefit both of them. FlyTyrol will be able to draw on Simply Jet's extensive charter network, as well as its support and expertise in marketing, finance and IT.
For its part, Simply Jet is incorporating FlyTyrol's expertise in aircraft management. This will enable the Swiss company to expand its range of services and offer aircraft management services to its clients, as well as flights operated under its own AOC. This acquisition is part of the succession plan for Helmut Eder, the founder of FlyTyrol, who has decided to step down in 2027. Regarding the transaction, he says: “I am proud to see the legacy I have built over more than two decades continue to grow under the Simply Jet banner. Our values remain the same: delivering excellence in aircraft management to our owners and seamless flight experiences to our charter clients.”
To succeed him, the Simply Jet board of directors has confirmed the appointment of Philipp Jarnoth as MD. In his new role, Jarnoth will be responsible for carrying on Eder's legacy and ensuring the company's continued growth.
With this acquisition, Simply Jet aims to become a key player in aircraft management in the coming years. Its goal is to increase the number of aircraft under management to 10 by 2030, up from the four today. Founded in 2016, Simply Jet is a private jet charter company based in Lausanne, Switzerland. It has since expanded its network with offices in London, Paris and Zurich, offering clients a blend of Swiss expertise and a strong commitment to safety, reliability, and client satisfaction. Operating 24/7, Simply Jet provides tailored aviation solutions, including private jet and helicopter charters, group charters, and aircraft sales and acquisitions, ensuring the highest level of service across all aspects of its operations. Through its subsidiary FlyTyrol, the company also offers aircraft management services on behalf of owners.
