Satcom, seating, lighting and cabin monitor upgrades were completed during a 12-year inspection for the Dubai-headquartered operator’s aircraft.
Action Aviation has taken redelivery of a Boeing BBJ from Nomad Technics following a 12-year inspection and landing gear overhaul at Basel’s EuroAirport, with the extended ground time used to carry out a range of interior and systems upgrades.
Nomad installed the Gogo Galileo FDX satcom system, one of the first such installations on a BBJ worldwide. AeroVisto Interior Services re-upholstered all seats and divans to a bespoke design, while Simrick supplied the carpeting. The inflight entertainment system was upgraded with larger, higher-resolution monitors and an app-based video-on-demand streaming system developed specifically for the client. Cabin lighting was changed to multicolour LED mood lighting controlled via an app, and a new app-based moving map system was installed for display on both cabin monitors and personal devices.
Brigita Vildziuniene, director of sales at Nomad, says: “The project was interesting and challenging to put together, but I think that’s something that made us win because the client saw how quickly and efficiently we can do things. Our responsiveness, honesty and transparency built trust with the customer and we carried that on throughout the project. They were involved in all the parts even in the quotation phase. It was a collaborative effort.”
The 12-year inspection and landing gear overhaul gave Nomad the opportunity to combine major maintenance with a full cabin and connectivity refresh, positioning the BBJ with one of the first Gogo Galileo FDX installations to enter service on the aircraft type ahead of its return to the charter market.
