Nolinor becomes first in Canada to deploy SkyTrac's TrooTrax Mission for GADSS-ready tracking

January 20, 2026:

Nolinor Aviation has selected SkyTrac Systems Ltd.'s TrooTrax Mission flight following and aircraft tracking system for use in its operational control centre (OCC) to support compliance with Global Aeronautical Distress and Safety System (GADSS) recommendations established by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). TrooTrax Mission, which is an upgraded version of TrooTrax Core, offers Nolinor the features and capabilities it was seeking as it aimed to continue to grow its OCC.

As the first Canadian airline to deploy TrooTrax Mission, Nolinor will use the system as its primary flight following and aircraft tracking solution. While TrooTrax Core is currently used by some airlines, this marks the first formal adoption of TrooTrax Mission by a large Canadian passenger transport operation. The software will enable ADS-B tracking at one-minute intervals and Iridium tracking at 15-minute intervals, supporting alignment with current and anticipated GADSS requirements.

Nolinor has utilised SkyTrac flight tracking solutions in its OCC since 2010, voluntarily tracking aircraft at intervals that were later adopted as ICAO standards. With the deployment of TrooTrax Mission across its fleet, Nolinor gains combined ADS-B and Iridium tracking, along with enhanced operational awareness tools that exceed current Canadian tracking requirements. These capabilities include flight plan ingestion, expanded interval tracking and automated alerts for overdue aircraft, abnormal events and flight path deviations. The system also generates immediate alerts if onboard ISAT-200A units are deactivated or experience a failure.

“As an operator with a longstanding commitment to safety, adopting TrooTrax Mission is a natural progression for our operations,” said Yves Bergeron, vice president of operations at Nolinor. “This approach reflects our continuous investment in modernising our fleet, including our Boeing 737-200 aircraft, by integrating state-of-the-art tracking and monitoring systems. With ongoing discussions surrounding GADSS implementation in Canada, we have chosen to remain ahead of regulatory requirements. Nolinor has been aligned with the intent of GADSS since 2010, well before formal mandates were introduced.”

Nolinor and SkyTrac have collaborated on safety and tracking solutions since 2010, including independent tracking systems providing frequent position reporting, deviation alerts and in-flight safety and maintenance exceedance monitoring. Most recently, SkyTrac's Ruben Stepin and Nolinor's Yves Bergeron jointly presented on the recent Canadian GADSS consultation at the Air Transport Association of Canada (ATAC) 2025 Conference in Montréal.

“We are proud of our longstanding partnership with Nolinor and its proactive approach to aircraft safety and tracking,” said Ruben Stepin, director of business development and GADSS specialist at SkyTrac. “Nolinor demonstrates how enhanced aircraft tracking and efficient flight following can support alignment with evolving GADSS direction. TrooTrax Mission provides operators with a practical path to modernising OCC tracking and alerting.”

TrooTrax Mission is SkyTrac's upgraded operational flight following platform designed to provide operators with real-time fleet visibility and configurable alerting. The software integrates with multiple satellite communication systems and is available in scalable tiers to meet varying operational needs.
