Latitude 33 Aviation installs first charter aircraft with Starlink WiFi systems on Cessna Citation XLS+

March 3, 2025:

Latitude 33 Aviation, a private jet management and charter service provider headquartered at McClellan-Palomar Airport in Carlsbad, California, has overseen one of the first five installations of Starlink WiFi on a Cessna Citation XLS+, bringing a major advancement in onboard connectivity to the midsize jet category. This cutting-edge installation delivers unparalleled inflight internet performance, marking a significant step forward for private jet passengers by offering a revolutionary alternative to traditional ground- based WiFi systems.

Unlike conventional inflight WiFi that relies on ground-based signals, Starlink leverages a network of low-Earth orbit satellites to provide faster speeds, lower latency and global coverage, even over oceans and remote regions. For private jet travellers, this means seamless streaming, video conferencing and uninterrupted high-speed internet access anywhere in the world.

Starlink's technology eliminates dead zones and slow speeds commonly associated with older inflight connectivity systems. As private jet passengers become increasingly discerning about onboard WiFi performance, Starlink stands out for its superior reliability and efficiency. Business travellers and high-net-worth individuals, in particular, benefit from the system's ability to maintain constant, high-quality connectivity with minimal disruptions.

From a flight crew perspective, Starlink enhances cockpit operations by providing dedicated networks for both the cabin and cockpit, ensuring robust and stable data transmission for navigation tools and communications. This added redundancy improves situational awareness and reduces pilot workload, further enhancing flight safety and efficiency.

This Starlink-equipped Citation XLS+ is among the first aircraft of its kind to receive the system, underscoring Latitude 33 Aviation's commitment to integrating state-of-the-art technology into its fleet. Renowned for its expertise in aircraft management, Latitude 33 Aviation meticulously oversaw the installation, ensuring seamless integration with the aircraft's existing systems.

Latitude 33 Aviation partnered with AMI Aviation Services, LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of AeroMech Incorporated, based in Smyrna, Tennessee. As an FAA STC ODA, PMA and Part 145 organisation specialising in inflight connectivity, avionics and regulatory compliance, AMI/AeroMech developed the supplemental type certificate (STC) for Starlink installations on this aircraft. Their expertise facilitated a streamlined installation process with swift FAA approvals, ensuring an efficient and hassle-free upgrade.

Starlink has made significant inroads in the aviation industry, particularly within commercial airlines. As of September 2024, more than 2,500 commercial aircraft have been equipped with Starlink, while private jet installations remain relatively limited at approximately 80 aircraft. However, demand for high-speed, global inflight connectivity in the private sector is rapidly increasing, with operators recognising the system's value in enhancing passenger experience and productivity.

With Starlink now installed, this Citation XLS+ is available for charter through Latitude 33 Aviation, offering passengers an unparalleled inflight connectivity experience alongside the aircraft's signature luxury and comfort. This enhancement represents a significant value-add for charter clients, combining world-class aircraft management with cutting-edge technology.

Latitude 33 Aviation continues to help aircraft owners capitalise on technological advancements, further elevating the private jet travel experience.
