HeliNY begins air medical helicopter charters

March 4, 2024:

HeliNY, a division of Helicopter Flight Services, Inc., has recently obtained FAA approval to conduct Helicopter Air Ambulance (HAA) Operations as A021 under its Ops Spec. HeliNY, one of the oldest operating helicopter transportation companies in the New York City metropolitan area, has an excellent reputation for professionalism, safety and providing superb customer experience. The company flew around 80,000 passengers in 2023 from the Downtown Manhattan Heliport and provides tours and customised charter and flight experiences from its home base hangar in Linden, New Jersey, a short five-minute flight from New York City.

HeliNY exclusively uses best-in-class Bell 407 and 427 helicopters in its fleet. Its focus is on delivering the best customer experience possible, with panoramic windows, corporate luxury leather interiors and Bose headsets to highlight just some of the amenities.

With a stellar reputation for service and record in aviation safety, HeliNY has reached a major milestone with its expansion into the medical field where it will leverage its fleet of helicopters for organ transfers and saving lives. Transporting organs and medical crew for time-sensitive surgeries, is especially crucial in densely populated metropolitan areas. Helicopter transport reduces the time the organ spends outside the body, thereby maximizing its viability and increasing the likelihood of a successful transplant.

HeliNY is equipped to swiftly retrieve transplant teams from various hospitals or airports throughout the US northeast with minimal notice. HeliNY's in-house dispatch team meticulously coordinates each mission, ensuring seamless execution from inception to completion.

Paul Blodgett, CEO for HeliNY, stated “Organ transfer flights represent a dramatic expansion in our business model, providing revenue diversification from our 30 years in commercial air tours around New York City. However, aside from the business expansion this represents, this enables us to utilise our helicopter fleet to literally save and change the lives of thousands. We are very proud of the opportunity in front of us and look forward to expanding our services in the coming years.”

HeliNY will operate this new division under the HeliNY Air Medical brand.
