Sun Air Jets partners with 4Air for carbon offsets

June 13, 2022:

Sun Air Jets, a Californian Part 135 operator providing FBO services, aircraft management, maintenance and private charter jet services, is proud to announce a new partnership with 4Air, the first and only rating system focused on comprehensive sustainability in private aviation, for verification of its programme to offset carbon emissions.

This commitment to 4Air, along with other company sustainability initiatives, reinforces Sun Air Jets' dedication to reducing its overall environmental impact and will further enhance its sustainability programme. Working with an industry leading carbon offsetting company allows Sun Air Jets to greatly reduce its carbon footprint. The 4Air programme provides a simplified, verifiable path to its environmental impact.

- 4Air will rate the greenhouse gas emissions for Sun Air Jets' charter flights. In addition, 4Air will review offsets, standards, verification, validation and purchase and retirement of carbon credits and any other offsetting measures and ensure that they meet the criteria set forth by industry-leading standards and 4Air's rating guidelines.

- Sun Air Jets' flights participating in the validated emissions offset programme can be certified 4AIR Bronze, indicating that their operation is carbon-neutral by virtue of offsetting all of their carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions with verified carbon offset credits. These credits will fund specific, verified, real-world projects intended to offset carbon emissions.

“We are excited to partner with 4Air as we continue Sun Air's journey along the path to carbon neutrality. 4Air's expertise and credentials will allow us to verify our contributions to a cleaner planet” says Sun Air Jets president and CEO, Brian Counsil.

“4Air not only offers turnkey sustainability solutions but, as the only rating system for private aviation emissions reduction, will evaluate and verify Sun Air Jets' sustainability programme,” said Kennedy Ricci, 4Air's president. “We can give Sun Air Jets, its stakeholders and its customers the assurance that the programme is meeting its goals and reducing emissions at levels equal to those generated by the flights.”

The partnership with 4Air extends Sun Air Jets' commitment to sustainability. Under a previous programme, Sun Air Jets purchased credits in 2021 that offset emissions equal to 4,452 metric tons of carbon.

Sun Air Jets' Camarillo Airport and Van Nuys Airport facilities are both Certified Tier 1 Green Aviation Businesses via the National Air Transportation Association (NATA). This commitment is designed to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, increase the use of environmentally friendly energy sources, reduce waste and encourage sustainability. Its facilities feature sustainable design with state-of-the-art green technology such as solar roof arrays, EV charging stations, refillable water stations to eliminate single-use drinkware, motion- sensing LED lighting and more.

In addition, Sun Air Jets appreciates that pollution extends beyond carbon emissions. Noise pollution affects the communities in which it operates, which is why it subscribes to the Van Nuys Airport Quieter Nights programme. This programme is briefed to all of its flight operations staff to ensure that the correct procedures are followed so that Sun Air Jets' operations may exist in harmony with its neighbours. The proof of this commitment is Sun Air Jets' repeated success in being awarded the Friendly Flyer Award.
