Sparfell's growth supported by over 76 years of experience in aviation

March 9, 2022:

Being on a path of expansion and development, Sparfell's main objective is to manage its changes and evolution to maintain its standards and exceed its teams' and clients' expectations. To sustain its growth and to further align with its business strategy, the Swiss headquartered aircraft charter, management and sales specialist has appointed Vincent Cathelain as the chief aviation officer of the group. This recruitment is in parallel to the one of David Sorel, who has been appointed the managing director of Sparfell Airways SA in Geneva. Furthermore, Alexander Faust has been promoted internally to the position of chief technical officer.

All three employments are part of the strategic managerial restructuring within the aviation group to drive all Sparfell's standards, operationally and commercially, to the highest of the industry and to navigate through the very dynamic and challenging stage.

With the position of chief aviation officer in charge of the flight operations of the group, Vincent Cathelain intends to work with his team of NPOs, crews and dispatchers towards the success of Sparfell, keeping the human values of the company owners at a high level.

In aviation for more than 20 years, he has acquired worldwide experience on many different business jets likethe Hawker 125, Falcon 900 and 7X and Global 6000. Now operating the Airbus ACJ as captain and TRI/TRE, he says, “I love the feeling that with business aviation, it is not just about flying but also about what is left of the heritage of the pioneers who could fly anywhere and at any time, but with the highest standard of safety.”

With his previous positions of chief pilot, flight operations manager and examiner, joining Sparfell was another milestone in his career: “Working in a family-owned company where human values are essential is a real source of pride and the right way forward.”

Having started his career in 1996, managing director of Sparfell Airways SA David Sorel joined TAG Aviation in Geneva in 2000 and stayed for nearly eight years, holding the position of ground operations manager (NPGO) when he left the company.

From 2008, by co-founding D-Jet, he opened a new chapter in his aviation career path, tasting the “pleasures” of aircraft brokerage and chartering. “Life is made from encounters, and after 14 years with D-Jet, I have been given by Philip and Edward Queffelec the extraordinary opportunity to come back to where it all started: on the operator side, now combining my strong operational and commercial experiences over the last 26 years as the managing director of Sparfell Airways SA. I am looking forward to participating in the expansion of Sparfell by sharing my experience and by embracing common human values,” he says.

Sparfell's chief technical officer Alexander Faust started his career in business aviation in 1992 as a licensed technician in Vienna. He became the first in Austria to obtain a CAT B1 licence number AML.A.001 when he held the position of deputy technical postholder. He then transitioned into engineering in 2001 and became the engineering department deputy at a German airline.

Since 2005, he has been part of Sparfell Luftfahrt GmbH, formerly LaudaMotion Executive, as the CAMO postholder and now, in addition, as the chief technical officer of Sparfell.

“I pride myself in contributing to the continuance of the highest levels of customer satisfaction, maintaining the highest safety standards within the aircraft continuing airworthiness management organisation and ensuring compliance with the Sparfell safety management system,” he says.
