B. Coleman Aviation and Coleman Jet authorized for DCA operations

August 8, 2017:

Gary, Indiana, B. Coleman Aviation and Coleman Jet have achieved certification as participants in the DCA Access Standard Security Program (DASSP) providing clients the convenience of flying directly to Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA). B. Coleman Aviation and Coleman Jet are available for DASSP operations effective immediately.

B. Coleman Aviation, a full service fixed base operator (FBO) based at the Gary/Chicago International Airport (KGYY), is an approved DCA Gateway FBO and has met the security requirements to allow private aircraft to travel from the FBO directly to DCA. Any aircraft flying into DCA must arrive from a designated gateway facility and comply with all aspects of the program.

Coleman Jet, B. Coleman Aviation's private jet charter and aircraft management division, earned authorization to operate flights at Ronald Reagan National Airport saving travelers a significant amount of time by avoiding Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD).

“We are pleased to offer our clients the convenience of traveling to Reagan National Airport on our aircraft departing from home base,” stated John Girzadas, president of B. Coleman. “We believe this will greatly benefit Chicago-area businesses as well as other regionally based operators that will now have an additional DCA Gateway option at a less congested airport.”

The TSA began approving general aviation operations for DCA in 2006 after restricting access to the airport due to the September 11th terrorist attacks. In the interest of national security, all operators and gateway FBO facilities must adhere to stringent security requirements to become approved participants in the DASSP.
