Queensland Government chooses Independent Aviation

March 11, 2016:

Australian charter broker Independent Aviation has been awarded the contract to provide charter aircraft for all air operations for the Government of the State of Queensland. This is the second consecutive time that Independent Aviation has been successful in tendering for this contract, and the company has now been managing all of Queensland Government's air charter procurement since 2010.

In terms of daily aircraft movements the contract is one of the most complex air charter management tasks in Australia. Due to the great distances, and the poor road and sea communications in many remote areas, Government departments require aircraft on a daily basis for passenger and freight transport to regional and island communities all over Queensland. As well as daily passenger transport Independent Aviation also coordinates tasking for helicopter airwork for 'QGOV' as well as human organ and pathology transfers, medical evacuations and disaster response.

Managing director Ian Button says a key ingredient to Independent Aviation's success is their very sophisticated reservations system, developed in-house specifically to service the needs of government, “The system enables us to guarantee our client best possible value for money as well as ensuring compliance with the stringent risk management procedures that are required by QGOV”.
