Capital Air Charter selects MedAire to Maximise safety and security of passengers and crew
May 12, 2015:Capital Air Charter, a subsidiary of the Rigby Group and one of the United Kingdom's (UK) largest aero-medical operators, has entered a new partnership with MedAire, the global leader in aviation medical and travel risk management services.
“Tasked with repatriating or transporting ill and injured travellers, the uncertainty of constantly changing health and security hazards around the world was identified as a significant risk to our staff,” said Malcolm Humphries, managing director/chief pilot of Capital Air Charter. “We are pleased to partner with MedAire for the provision of a travel risks service for all our flight medical crew and passengers.”
Based in Exeter, UK, Capital Air Charter provides a complete air ambulance service for Europe and the rest of the world. While their medical personnel operate predominantly in Europe, north Africa and the near East, a significant and growing number of its aero-medical missions do involve long haul travel, often to destinations with fragile or unstable governments, outright hostile conditions, significant health concerns, or a multitude of other risks.
“MedAire's travel risk management solution offers easily accessible and continually updated intelligence from which go/no go decisions can be made, as well as provides invaluable information that allows comprehensive preparation for Capital's global reach,” says Peter Tuggey, managing director of MedAire. “Capital's commitment to their crew and passengers in providing the best aviation medical and safety solution is to be commended.”
As part of the service, Capital Charter has access to MedAire's Trip Ready app, which provides valuable insights into each destination. The Trip Ready app provides an easily accessible, additional source of information during Capital Charter's risk assessment process. It is also used once flights are underway in order to monitor the most up-to-date information.
