The stand-out feature of the Elite according to Michimasa Fujino is the engine mount configuration

New kid on the block: HondaJet Elite

Honda Aircraft's new upgraded HondaJet Elite is to replace the current version of the twin-engine light business jet. With a range of 1,437nm the Elite flies 17 per cent farther than its predecessor thanks to aero-dynamic improvements and increased fuel capacity from an auxiliary fuel tank placed under the belly. The company also claims it emits fewer greenhouse gases and noise pollution than other jets in its category.

"The HondaJet Elite is the best performance aircraft in the light jet class," says CEO Michimasa Fujino. "It flies the fastest and at 43,000ft it flies the highest, and is the most fuel efficient. Importantly, it is also really comfortable. It is quiet and the ride quality is more like a larger jet; it's very stable."

Fujino adds that passenger fatigue is much less than from other light jets and vibration is reduced thanks to the engine placement. "If you fly the Elite for two hours your fatigue levels are completely different to flying in another light jet for the same period," he says. He mentions too that the aircraft's cabin is the largest in its category with comfortable seating for up to seven passengers.

Changes to the interior include two-tone premium leather seats, a speakerless sound system, belted lavatory and a full service galley, while new paint colour choices include ice blue, ruby red and monarch orange. It is type certificated by the FAA and EASA and deliveries will begin in August.
