AsBAA signs MoU with JBAA and recognises ACS

AsBAA has signed a new memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Japan Business Aircraft Association (JBAA) at this year's Icons of Aviation Awards. It marks a new era of deepened cooperation between the two IBAC member associations.

Chairperson Jenny Lau says: “AsBAA made a commitment to strengthen its existing chapters in 2017-18, which we have done and will continue to do in 2019-20. Simultaneously we set out to look for new opportunities for our members in other Asian markets. We plan to leverage global events and ensure that our members have access to the most accurate and up-to-date advice on airport access in the region. We are honoured and delighted to sign the new MOU with JBAA, and we look forward to working with our colleagues in Japan to open up new opportunities for our respective members.”

JBAA chairman Keisuke Okada adds: “Now that JBAA has signed an agreement and MOU with AsBAA we will make every effort together for business jet customers around the world. From our point of view, the key to success is to focus on improving the customer experience, both for our members and their end customers. Japan is a huge market with great potential. There are many challenges ahead that need to be addressed, however we are confident that the MOU will improve mutual understanding and lead to swifter solutions. We look forward to working together for the better future of the industry.”

In September 2019 Japan will host the Rugby World Cup and, in the summer of 2020, the Olympics. Both associations have made a commitment to work closely together to leverage the opportunities of these events for the Asian business and general aviation sector.

During the same evening event Air Charter Service was named Best Charter Broker. Director of private jets Asia James Royds-Jones collected the award on behalf of the company. He says: “Thank you to all our suppliers and industry peers for taking the time to vote for us as Asia's best aircraft charter broker. This year we celebrate 10 years in Asia and this award is a nice birthday present. It is a tremendous credit to our team for their hard work this year.”
