Avinode sees acceleration of Asian charter market

The Asian business aviation charter market is expanding rapidly according to new figures from Avinode. Requests for arrivals into Asian airports made through the platform rose by 43 per cent between April 2017 to March 2018 compared to the same period in 2016-17.

The most significant increases were from Russia and the US, with requests from the US surging 72.4 per cent and trips from Russia by 41.4 per cent.

Requests for departures from Asia through Avinode saw a 53 per cent rise between April 2017 to March 2018 compared to the previous 12 months.

International departures from Asia to Russia and the US increased by 84.5 per cent and 80 per cent respectively.

China's key position in the global economy saw it experience the greatest growth in domestic charter trip requests. For arrivals, China overtook India to become the second most popular destination in Asia with requests up 70.6 per cent. Thailand retained its position as the most popular destination with a 64.6 per cent increase in requests. For domestic departures, Chinese airports climbed from the fourth to the first most requested in Asia, with requests more than doubling from 2,286 to 4,765.
