Joel Thomas aims to extend the reach of ACANA

Joel Thomas appointed chairman of ACANA

The Air Charter Association of North America (ACANA) has appointed Joel Thomas as its chairman. The non-profit organisation was founded in 2007 and comprises 22 leading air charter service providers in the industry, who represent annual revenues in the hundreds of millions of dollars.

Thomas was selected in part because of his experience working in the industry and ACANA. He is currently ceo of Stratos Jets which became a member of ACANA in 2010, and the following year he stepped up to the role of president. During his term, ACANA expanded its membership by including Part 135 operators and industry service providers including ARGUS and Avinode.

Last year Thomas served as vice president of ACANA and he says he is delighted to take on his new role. He adds: “Throughout the years, ACANA has taken the lead on educating its members and industry peers of the evolving regulatory environment as related to a DOT NPRM (Notice of Proposed Rule Making) on air charter brokers by hosting panel discussions at the annual NBAA convention.

“My goal for this year is to expand ACANA's influence with air charter consumers through educ-ation, as well as with air carriers by demonstrating the value of working with member companies.”
