Memorable marriage proposal takes off thanks to Paramount Business Jets

The team at private jet charter advisory firm Paramount Business Jets (PBJ) pride themselves on delivering a high level of service and unparalleled assistance while representing its members' interests in the aviation marketplace. Marcel Rosetto may attest to that commitment firsthand.

Rosetto, who works for a Gulf-based international airline, contacted Paramount late last year while researching prices to charter an aircraft on which to propose to his longtime girlfriend, Em. “I needed to plan something special,” he recalls. “I always want to be different. We met while working on a flight in 2010 so I thought it would be interesting to do something along those lines.”

Rosetto spoke with PBJ ceo and founder Richard Zaher who, over the next few months, provided him with a variety of cost-effective charter options tailored to Marcel's requirements. Zaher also advised the charter novice on what kind of equipment to look for and reviewed crew and safety standards.

Rosetto adds: “Richard and I exchanged dozens of emails. From the beginning, he told me that he would help me find the right match – even if that wasn't necessarily with PBJ. He was a huge part in making this happen, and I was amazed that the leader of a company would communicate with me almost daily. It wasn't until I noticed his signature on the fourth or fifth email that I realised he was the ceo!”

On December 24, Rosetto flew to pick Em and her sister up from Bangkok. They then spent Christmas in Canada, where five days later he awoke them for a spontaneous shopping trip. Things took an unusual turn when, after a short sojourn to the mall, they stopped by Calgary International airport.

Thanks in part to Zaher's guidance, Rosetto had selected an Embraer Phenom 100 vlj operated by Canadian charter provider SkyService, which was also the company that gave Rosetto his first job in aviation several years ago. “I told her we would take a picture with an aircraft, in keeping with our connection to aviation and how we met,” Rosetto says. “I then came back out and said, “'you won't believe this, but they want to take the two of us on a tour of the Rockies.”

Rosetto popped the question to his stunned fiancé at 25,000 feet. “I can't believe how this all came together!” he exclaims. “I'm never able to surprise her – and, in fact, I almost didn't. After I gave her the bouquet of flowers, one of the captains came back ready to say congratulations but I wasn't ready yet! Finally, when I did propose – she never answered! She had a big smile on her face, but she couldn't speak.” She finally held out her hand, so he could place the ring on her finger.

The professional charter advisors at PBJ research more than 1,000 trips a month for its members. They have access to over 15,000 business aircraft worldwide, ranging from small jets and helicopters up to the largest and most luxurious intercontinental aircraft.

“While Marcel ultimately found his own option thanks to his prior relationships in the industry, I am still incredibly pleased and proud to have been a part of this process,” Zaher says. “It's a good day's work when you can say you've made another friend in this business.”

“I feel almost embarrassed that Richard never made a dollar from all the help he gave me,” Rosetto concludes. “The aviation industry is a small community, built on relationships and, above all, trust. I owe Richard a lot, and look forward to using and recommending Paramount in the very near future.”
