NBAA tax and risk conference precedes NBAA-BACE

October 11, 2026

Attorneys, CPAs, financial advisors, CFOs and flight operations professionals will meet at Encore Las Vegas on 18-19 October, ahead of NBAA-BACE.

Nearly 300 people have signed up for the two-day conference.

The 2026 National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) Tax, Regulatory & Risk Management Conference takes place on 18-19 October at Encore Las Vegas, prior to the opening of NBAA-BACE. Designed for attorneys, CPAs, financial advisors, CFOs and flight operations professionals, the two-day event will pair timely updates on the most consequential tax and regulatory issues in business aviation with practical, scenario-based sessions focused on applying that knowledge to real-world situations. Nearly 300 people have already signed up.

The conference will address the financial and regulatory consequences that often follow seemingly routine business decisions, from acquiring and selling aircraft to restructuring a flight operation. Opening day presentations will cover Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulatory fundamentals, personal use of aircraft, Standard Industry Fare Level (SIFL) reporting, depreciation, related-party transactions, federal excise tax for Part 91 operations and international transactions and customs.

The second day will shift towards practical applications, including a session on the tax, regulatory and operational considerations of fractional ownership and jet card programmes. Other sessions will examine state tax hotspots, know-your-customer requirements, data security and current insurance and aircraft finance market conditions.

A dedicated session will explore the steps organisations should consider when purchasing or selling an aircraft, adding an aircraft to a flight operation or undergoing a change in company ownership. The conference will conclude with a panel discussion featuring candid accounts of aircraft transactions and other arrangements that didn’t go according to plan.

Benjamin Schwalen, NBAA general counsel and corporate secretary, says: “Sometimes the most valuable lessons come from examining what went wrong. These practical sessions will help attendees recognise common pitfalls, maintain better records and prepare for changes before they create unexpected tax, regulatory or financial exposure.”

Registration includes complimentary admission to NBAA-BACE, which runs from 20-22 October, enabling attendees to connect with experts, service providers and other professionals from across the business aviation community.
