2-REG AOC holder BirdieJet launches with a Learjet

August 21, 2026

Primary missions will include air ambulance and medical transfer flights (including inter-hospital transfers and organ transport), VIP and corporate charter, and specialised support for remote or time-sensitive operations.

The BirdieJet team is proud to have added the Learjet.

BirdieJet has received its AOC from the Guernsey Civil Aviation Authority and will operate a Learjet 55 on the certificate.

Following successful audits and a proving flight in Kuala Lumpur, 2-REG Guernsey Aircraft Registry issued its eighth AOC to BirdieJet in July 2026, making the Far Eastern operator the latest member of the 2-REG AOC family.

The milestone was further marked by the allocation of the personalised Guernsey registration 2-BRDJ to BirdieJet’s first aircraft, the Learjet 55, reflecting the operator’s identity.

The certification follows months of rigorous preparation across BirdieJet’s operations, safety and maintenance teams to meet the authority’s requirements and standards, as well as collaboration across 2-REG, with its registry, airworthiness and flight operations teams working closely together to support the certification process.

“Receiving our AOC is more than a regulatory milestone: it’s the realisation of the vision we’ve worked tirelessly toward. From day one, our focus has been on building an operation rooted in safety, precision and outstanding service, and today marks the beginning of the promise of that coming to life,” says Darren Chan, CEO of BirdieJet.

“We chose the Learjet 55 because it strikes an excellent balance of performance, cabin utility and operating economics for the Southeast Asian market. The aircraft offers a solid combination of range, speed and a cabin that can be configured flexibly for both business charter clients and specialised medical missions. After careful evaluation of acquisition costs, maintenance support and residual value in the region, the Learjet 55 represented a practical and strategically sound entry point for building a reliable twin-engine jet capability at Subang.”

Both aircraft will be available for ad hoc charter as well as longer-term managed arrangements. Clients can book individual trips or enter into block-hour and aircraft-management agreements depending on their frequency of travel. This dual approach allows the operator to serve occasional users while also supporting corporate and medical organisations that prefer predictable access and dedicated scheduling support.

Chan continues: “Among its strongest attributes are the cabin volume, which accommodates a stretcher plus accompanying medical team, the aircraft’s proven dispatch reliability, and its relatively efficient fuel burn for a mid-size jet of its generation. The Learjet 55 also benefits from a mature global support network, which is important for maintaining high availability in our operating environment. These two aircraft form the core of our initial fleet under Birdie2Jet. They immediately expand our ability to offer time-critical medical evacuation and charter services from Subang while giving us a platform on which to refine operational procedures.”

Primary missions will include air ambulance and medical transfer flights (including inter-hospital transfers and organ transport), VIP and corporate charter, and specialised support for remote or time-sensitive operations. We are also developing capacity for hybrid missions that combine commercial viability with broader community impact.

He concludes: “This year has progressed better than we initially projected. Securing the AOCs and moving the aircraft toward operational readiness earlier than planned has given us valuable momentum and confidence in the model. Looking ahead, our focus is on establishing consistent, high-standard operations, deepening relationships with our strategic partners, and carefully expanding both the commercial charter business and our impact-driven medical access work. We aim to demonstrate that a well-run, safety-first regional operator can deliver both commercial and meaningful public benefit.”
