FAA and EASA technical standard order approval has been granted for the configurable displays, which will become available in July.
Garmin has introduced AXIS, a family of flight displays that integrates a certified IFR GPS, NAV/COMM radio and audio panel into a single unit, an industry first for the segment. The system is designed for certified piston-powered single and twin engine aircraft through an expansive AML STC covering hundreds of models, as well as for experimental and LSA aircraft.
The AXIS range spans three display sizes: an 11.6-inch landscape unit and two eight-inch models in portrait and landscape orientations, each configurable as a primary flight display or multi-function display with an optional engine indication system. The 11.6-inch variant is available with a TSO certified IFR GPS, VHF COMM radio offering 10 watts of transmit power with 8.33kHz frequency tuning, a NAV radio and a four-place intercom audio panel with Bluetooth capability. AXIS is compatible with many of the same navigators, radios, modules and sensors as Garmin's G3X Touch displays, and shares the same panel cutouts and mounting points to simplify upgrades.

The 11.6-inch AXIS displays have achieved FAA and EASA Technical Standard Order certification and will be available in July, with STC approvals from other civil aviation authorities expected to follow. The eight-inch displays are expected in early 2027. Beyond core avionics, AXIS supports Garmin's Smart Glide engine-out assistance, Runway Occupancy Awareness and optional SurfaceWatch runway monitoring, and can serve as the primary engine indication display for most normally aspirated or turbocharged four to six-cylinder piston engines as well as radial and turbine-powered experimental types.
