Garmin Pilot update expands weather and data

June 28, 2026

Pilots can assess flying conditions up to six days ahead, while updated database management tools have streamlined aircraft administration.

A visual timeline highlights expected VFR, MVFR, IFR and LIFR conditions throughout the forecast period.

Garmin has expanded the capabilities of its Garmin Pilot mobile app with the addition of long-range weather forecasting, turbulence mapping and updated Database Concierge tools for navigation database management.

The update introduces Daily Weather on Apple mobile devices, bringing a feature previously limited to Garmin Pilot Web to mobile users, while a new turbulence layer helps pilots identify forecast turbulence along planned routes. Database Concierge users can also access a redesigned interface that makes it easier to view installed navigation database status, available updates and multiple aircraft.

The Daily Weather feature allows pilots to view forecasts up to six days in advance, with each day presented through an hourly breakdown of expected conditions. A visual timeline highlights periods of VFR, MVFR, IFR and LIFR weather, allowing users to move through forecast periods and quickly identify suitable operating windows. The feature sits within the Airports tab alongside METARs, TAFs and MOS forecast data.

Garmin has also introduced a turbulence weather layer across Garmin Pilot Web and mobile platforms. The overlay displays forecast turbulence directly on the map, helping pilots evaluate route options and identify areas where conditions may be less favourable. The turbulence information is currently available across the United States from the surface to FL450. Garmin plans to extend the capability globally, covering altitudes from 11,000ft MSL to FL450.

Database Concierge users on iOS devices can access a redesigned interface that simplifies the process of viewing installed navigation database status and available updates. The revised workflow reduces the number of steps required to access database information and update requirements. For operators managing multiple aircraft, a new aircraft selector enables users to filter aircraft lists within Database Concierge, simplifying fleet administration and update tracking.

The enhancements are available immediately through a free software update for existing Garmin Pilot users.
