Volare Aviation has strengthened its helicopter offering by acquiring two Airbus EC155 helicopters, marking the introduction of a new aircraft type into the UK operator's growing mixed fleet.
Traditionally specialising in the acquisition and refurbishment of AgustaWestland 109 helicopters, this strategic investment reflects Volare’s continued commitment to innovation, diversifying its fleet and delivering an enhanced client experience across both sales and charter operations.
The Airbus EC155 is widely recognised for its exceptional performance and passenger comfort. Offering low noise levels, impressive speed and range, and a comfortable, spacious cabin, the aircraft delivers one of the smoothest and most polished helicopter experiences available today.
Each aircraft within the newly acquired pair, features advanced avionics and different distinctive characteristics. One of the helicopters benefits from rotating captain’s chairs, so that all passengers can face forwards during flight. This is a feature rarely seen in this aircraft type. The other, sports a bespoke, unique and vibrant paint finish that shifts in colour from each viewing angle; a concept entirely designed and implemented in-house by the Volare team.
These additions promise to enhance operational efficiency, with greater range and increased passenger capacity compared to the AgustaWestland 109. They provide increased flexibility for both UK and European missions.
Whilst one aircraft has been sold, the other has only recently been brought to market, with both continuing to be managed by Volare and available for ad hoc charter. With plans to expand its fleet of Airbus EC155 helicopters in the near future, the Volare team are already exploring ways to further introduce distinctive and original interior and exterior design features.
“The Airbus EC155 helicopter is viewed as one of the smoothest and most comfortable helicopters that money can buy. They are large spacious helicopters without being too large, and they typically hold value well,” explains director of sales Nick Isbister. “One has been sold, however Volare still manages both aircraft, using them for charter flying whilst not in use. The Airbus EC155 has a larger range and a higher passenger capacity than the rest of Volare’s helicopter fleet, meaning it can accommodate more passengers for longer journeys. It is also a much smoother and quieter aircraft, making it a preferred choice for passengers looking to travel further.”
Isbister continues: “This year has already been a strong year of growth for Volare Aviation with significant investments in larger refurbishment projects and strengthened industry partnerships. Volare is proud to be working closely with Starlink, to provide high speed satellite internet services and with Bang & Olufsen to give clients the opportunity to have top quality speakers integrated into aircraft interiors.
“In the next few months, Volare Aviation hopes to further invest in high value aircraft refurbishment projects and work with more luxury brands to give clients a truly bespoke, premium in-flight experience that fully combines cutting-edge technology, comfort and design excellence.”
