Osprey Flight Solutions demos innovative new risk analysis software at AVSEC World 2017

November 14, 2017:

Osprey Flight Solutions, a newly launched aviation security company, is demonstrating its risk analysis and management software for the first time at AVSEC World in Abu Dhabi this week (Stand 33) from 12th to 14th November, 2017.

The product was designed to address the lack of a cost effective, real-time risk management solution, which continues to be a growing concern in the aviation industry following the MH17 disaster in 2014.

The urgency to launch was also spurred on after the AVSEC World 2016 event in Kuala Lumpur, where Osprey Flight Solutions' CEO Andrew Nicholson shared a panel on 'Next Generation Risk Management' alongside Mitch Fox, ICAO's chief of strategy planning and regional affairs coordination.

During the session it was aired that ICAO's Conflict Zone Information Repository (CZIR) had not achieved what was hoped for, sparking a growing realisation that an independent solution would not be constrained by the same diplomatic pressures, and offer as good as, if not a better standard of reporting.

Osprey's software delivers an instantaneous, integrated risk assessment bespoke to the specific geographical planned route of a flight and provides dynamic re-assessment in real-time if the flight-route is altered. The analysis is continuously updated, ensuring the assessment is accurate to the second the flight is planned.

Using the latest technology, the software analyses some 200,000 sources in over 60 languages, allowing patterns and trends that may be invisible to a purely human system to be identified. For the first time, this analysis is delivered directly and visually into flight planning software, heralding a step-change in enabling operators to maximise the protection of crew, passengers and aircraft and supporting operational decision making, quality control and compliance.

Andrew, former head of aviation security for MedAire, explains: “We have created access to up-to-the-minute threat and risk information to be instantaneous and easy for every operator, from a single aircraft owner/pilot to the largest commercial airline. We believe it is vitally important that every operator, no matter what size, has access to the right information to best understand and mitigate the threats to their crew, passengers and aircraft.”

“It is important that our partners work towards closing gaps in the security overlay of the civil aviation industry,” added Matthew Vaughan, director aviation security at IATA. “In today's challenging security environment being able to instantly access accurate and robust risk assessments is a fundamental priority in aviation security. An offering that brings cost efficiency in the utilisation of risk decision support tools recognises what is a key priority for the industry.”

Osprey's software has already been beta-tested by companies who are in the process of becoming fully fledged clients.

Aviation security alerts, freely available to the industry by signing up on the website, are a very useful addition, covering emerging incidents that are assessed will impact the aviation security environment.

Andrew Nicholson, Bruce Norfolk. chief commercial officer, and Richard Walker, newly appointed business development director will all be at AVSEC World 14th to 16th November, Jumeirah Emirates Towers. Andrew will be a speaker on the 14th November at 1.30 pm in a session entitled 'What has changed since the last AVSEC World.'
