Air Alliance Group gains equity funding and appoints medical director

A majority interest in Germany-headquartered Air Alliance Group has been acquired by Deutsche Private Equity investment company. Founder and CEO Wolfgang Krombach retains a significant shareholding and will continue to lead the company.

The Air Alliance Group provides air ambulance flights under its Air Alliance Medflight brand using Learjets and Challenger 604s based at Siegerland, Cologne, Vienna and Birmingham airports. Its Air Alliance Medflight Germany subsidiary has appointed Dr Gert Muurling as medical director to work closely with its medical directors in the UK and Austria. As leading coordinator of all medical operations Muurling will provide leadership, guidance and oversight for regulatory compliance and continuous quality improvement on the company's worldwide air ambulance missions.

Muurling studied medicine at the University of Mainz in Germany and has been a consultant in anesthesiology since 1994. He holds additional certificates for intensive care, emergency, travel, altitude and trekking medicine as well as pain therapy. From 2003 until 2006 he was medical director for a major European air ambulance company and since 2006 has audited more than 30 air ambulance companies world- wide as a permanent auditor for EURAMI.
