Rick Colson is seeing last year’s growth continuing through January 2017, with a decline in turboprop demand offset by overall business

New Flight Charters reports trend towards larger aircraft

Wyoming, USA-based New Flight Charters, which is celebrating its 13th anniversary this year, has seen a year on year increase of more than eight per cent in charter business for 2016. It attributes this growth to specific initiatives in the Colorado and Jackson Hole, Wyoming areas, as well as to nationwide interest.

Demand has generally moved away from turboprop towards jet charter, with an overall trend from smaller to larger aircraft. The demand for turboprop charters decreased 19.1 per cent while the demand for jet charters overall increased by 21.4 per cent. Light jet charters grew by 12.7 per cent, midsize by 37.4 per cent and the demand for large cabin jets climbed 21.4 per cent.

“We saw a definitive move from smaller to larger charter aircraft bookings last year. Demand moved up the scale,” comments New Flight Charters president Rick Colson. “In addition, jet charter pricing improved overall with an increase in one-way pricing options across many top charter operators and fleets nationwide.”
